Kandy Rain Voted Off X Factor

Sad news for Kandy Rain fans. Earlier tonight they were the first act to be voted off the X Factor in a public vote.

The two acts with the least votes were Kandy Rain and Rachel Adedeji. Both had to sing again to try to stay in the competition. Kandy Rain chose, appropriately, to sing "Fighter" by Christina Aguilera.

When the judge's vote was split down the middle, it was announced that Kandy Rain had a lower number of votes than Rachel, so they would be leaving the show.

Good luck girls, we hope things work out for you!

Kandy Rain – X Factor Live Show 1

Kandy Rain were the second act to perform on last night's X Factor live show and boy, did they make an impression!

Kandy Rain have taken a lot of stick from various quarters about the fact that they all used to be strippers (or pole dancers or whatever) and not many people have been expecting them to do well in the competition. Even their X Factor “mentor” Louis Walsh has been a bit downbeat about the girls.

But last night, they came out fighting! Singing “Addicted to Love”, they definitely played to their strengths! After all, if you're a pole dancer, you should know how to dress and move provocatively and the Kandy Rain girls certainly turned it on!

The only problem with taking that approach is that they split the judges right down the middle. The ladies (Danii Minogue and Cheryl Cole) didn't like the performance, whereas the gents (Simon Cowell and Louis Walsh) loved it!

Danii said they should “rain” it in (geddit?). Cheryl added that if she was their mentor, she would have had them coming out looking more demure and focusing on their singing (although to be fair, I thought their vocal performance was pretty good and the harmonies were solid).

Simon and Louis completely disagreed and a bit of an argument then ensued between Simon and Cheryl about whether the Kandy Rain girls could be taken seriously dressing how they did for this performance.

I think Kandy Rain are actually better than a lot of people give them credit for. If they're smart, they'll play both ends of the argument as the finals progress. They've shown they can do sexy and provocative, but they do have good voices and work well together as a group.

So maybe next week Kandy Rain should try to show a different side of themselves that will appeal more to the girls, a side that focuses more on their voices and less on their flesh. They can always come back to sexy once they have the female X Factor judges (and the female half of the audience) onside.

Will Kandy Rain Win the X Factor?

Will Kandy Rain win the X Factor? If they do, they will be the first group to do it.

All of the previous winners of the X Factor have been solo artists, so Kandy Rain have an uphill struggle ahead of them.

Kandy Rain is a four-piece girl band consisting of Chemmane Applewhaite, Khatereh Dovani, Azi Jegbefume and Coco Lloyd. The girls have something of a raunchy past behind them as they are all former strippers!

At their X Factor audition, they sang "Don't Cha" by Pussycat Dolls to a positive response from the judges, although Danii suggested that they didn't need to dress so provocatively. Simon and Louis seemed happy with their look though!

So they are now through to the final twelve and face some stiff competition from the other acts going into the live shows. They'll need to pull out all the stops to stay in the competition at this stage. But their vocal harmonies are solid and they certainly look good.

Will Kandy Rain win the X Factor? If they can win over the female half of the audience and keep those vocal harmonies tight, then they might just be in with an outside chance.
